In 1999, he began apprenticing under Brian Cook who was the 1997 International Magician's Association Close-up Olympics gold medalist.  Presently, he is studying under acclaimed local master Ken Garr of Sonoma County’s Mostly Magic.  In 2000, he began studying dance and the physical arts.  Colt’s unique “Phusion Technique,” a modernized version of Polynesian fire dancing, was developed over five years of self teaching and private study.  Colt has improved and enhanced his Phusion routine through frequent encounters with fire dancers and martial artists from around the world.
